A text flicked up on my phone while I was at work yesterday.

I didn't bother looking at it immediately. "Geez," I thought. "Why can't I just be left alone."

I'm not usually so cynical - but I'd been having one of those days.

You know the ones.

It started early.

I'd run out of bread, cling wrap and change for the tuckshop.

Then, to get this you-beaut day truly underway, the petrol light came on when I was already running late for work.

If I were a better mother I'd be more organised, more diligent.

I wouldn't run out of bread, cling wrap and I'd always have the correct change for tuckshop I thought to myself.

By the time I logged onto my computer at work, I felt completely behind the eight ball. If I were better at my job I'd never feel overwhelmed or insecure. I wouldn't run late, I'd be more organised.

If only I was more conscientious, I wouldn't wait until the light came on before I put petrol in my car.
