DARRYL Walker is a virgin and he's proud to admit it.

The ex-air force chef and wife Barbara from Victoria Point are in Maryborough this week as first-timers at a national caravan muster.

C[pounds sterling]About 50 per cent of us are muster virgins,C[yen] Mr Walker laughed.

One hundred and fifty caravans from throughout Australia rolled into Maryborough Showgrounds this week for the fourth annual Australian Caravan Club National Muster.

Event organiser Russ Gerchow from the Wide Bay Burnett Nomads said the event was the first national muster to be held in Queensland and the first in Australia organised by a local branch.

C[pounds sterling]In 2008 we lobbied to have the muster in Maryborough because we could see the potential for the region,C[yen] Mr Gerchow of Hervey Bay said.
