New Chapter for Grammar School; Boys Will Benefit from $2.5M Library with State-of-the-Art Technology

THE evolution of Ipswich Grammar School continues with the development of a new $2.5 million library.

The two-storey Ipswich Grammar Junior School Library will cater for students from prep to year six and is on track to be completed by March next year.

It will include state-of-the-art learning technology and a junior school assembly area for more than 200 students.

Ipswich Grammar School headmaster Denis Frederiksen said the library was funded as part of the Federal Government's $16.2 billion Building the Education Revolution program.

"Libraries these days are very technological," he said.

"It's not all about books, so the library will have a lot of computers and quiet reading lounges for the boys.

"Boys need to be encouraged to read. They respond to visuals quite well and are active learners.

"Boys like to find out information, rather than have it handed to them."

Mr Frederiksen said the library would become a great asset for the school community. …
