Fans Will Settle for Nothing Less Than a Victory

Article excerpt

THERE are only three points at stake this weekend -so the result of the Leeds showdown will not decide the outcome of Boro''s season.

But nothing less than all three points will satisfy the fans.

Indeed an absolute minimum of five points is required from the next three games in eight days to give the long suffering fans hope that a promotion campaign can be belatedly mounted.

Two wins would surpass that requirement but one of them must come against Leeds.

This is without doubt our biggest game of the season in many ways.

There is the obvious importance in view of our form and league position, on top of that it''s the nearest we have to a derby game, with the most away supporters we are likely to see this season.

Unless Boro buck their ideas up it will almost certainly be our biggest crowd of the season.

If we fail against Leeds then it is going to take a hell of a lot to get many locals to return.

The absence of Barry Robson is going to be a major blow to Boro and your guess is as good as mine as to what the starting line-up will be.

I would go for Steele in goal, with a back four of McMahon, Wheater, McManus and Arca.

If McManus is still dizzy from dealing with the Spaniards, then perhaps Bates should be considered in what is undoubtedly his best position.

In midfield the right side berth continues to be an unsolved problem and I would give McDonald a game there. …
