Endeavour Looks Back on 50 Years

MUM Nancy Johnson has good reason to help celebrate the Endeavour Foundation's 50th anniversary in Bundaberg next month.

Mrs Johnson said her daughter, Jody, now 54, had been involved in Endeavour Foundation programs since she finished school at 18, giving the family a 36-year history with the organisation.

"She worked in the workshop for several years, but now she's in the Learning and Lifestyle program," Mrs Johnson said.

Jody lives in Endeavour Foundation lodgings during the week and spends weekends with her mother.

"It gives her a life away from me, and it gives me a life too," Mrs Johnson said.

Foundation clients in the Learning and Lifestyle program spend their time in activities such as doing crafts, playing board games, working on computers and doing cooking classes.

Mrs Johnson said many of the clients in the Learning and Lifestyle group were in the same age group as her daughter.

"We've even got five people who were in the first Endeavour Foundation group back in 1960," she said. …
