Vandals Leave Hay Sculpture in Ruins; Thief Wrecks Creation for Chrome Pipe

KALBAR residents are going haywire after a thief destroyed a creative display ahead of the town's annual Country Day.

Vince Hermann spent hours creating a unique tractor display for the town's inaugural Hay Sculpture competition but was devastated to learn his time had been wasted.

A callous thief had made his or her way onto the sculpture on Mr Hermann's property in Munbilla Road and removed a chrome exhaust pipe belonging to a car that doubled on the creation as the tractors exhaust pipe.

In the process the entire display was destroyed.

Mr Hermann has since put up a sign near the hay display, "Whodunnit? Please return the chrome pipe".

"It's a shame to put so much effort into something like this for the community only to have it vandalised," Mr Hermann said.

"But it shouldn't take away from the spirit of it."

Kalbar Country Day organiser Tim Eltham said it was unfortunate someone had destroyed one of the entries but "all has not been lost". …
