HIGHFIELDS' Charles Dickerson put on the most dominating performance ever seen in the Regional Basketball League on Saturday night, scoring a league record 108 points against Tenterfield Terriers.

Highfields were convincing 126-69 winners but the big story of the night was teenager Dickerson, who scored all but 18 of his side's points in a performance that beggars belief.

With the competition's leaders Highfields taking on a Tenterfield side looking for their first win this season, a big win was always on the cards. But no-one expected a performance of this magnitude, least of all Dickerson.

"We didn't really know it was going to happen ... I didn't think I was going to get anywhere near that," Dickerson said.

Dickerson said his team-mates had spoken about trying to break Anthony Hold's league record of 74 points before tip-off.

"I scored eight points in the first two minutes and it went from there, my team went out of their way to get me the ball," Dickerson said.

"I don't know how many shots I missed but it wasn't many."

Making the achievement that much more enjoyable was being able to share it with his dad and coach Pop.

"Dad actually played," Dickerson said.

"I said I wanted a break but he told me to keep going."

In the end, Dickerson played all but three minutes in Highfields' huge victory, eclipsing his previous best tally of 40 points.

"I doubt I'll ever get that many again," he said. "I hope so but I'm not holding my breath."

But Highfields' key small-forward knows there was more to the win then his individual performance.

"It was a really good practice run, it helped us work on passing the ball inside and out," Dickerson said.

Meanwhile, Centenary Young Guns set up a mouth-watering clash with Tenterfield Bullets this Saturday after a solid 14-point win over Dalby Power. …
