All the efforts of the last two months are coming to fruition soon; it's playoff time for fall sports.

The golf teams had their district rounds Monday and Tuesday. Both Mandarin and Wolfson High competed in Class 2A, District 3.

The girls' side was held at Selva Marina Golf Course Monday. Mandarin came in third behind Stanton and Fletcher. It was paced by freshman Brianna D'Annunzi (105), sophomore Diana Kang (110), junior Amanda Holsinger (110) and junior Sarah Shrewsbury (118). The Mustangs advance to the regional event Tuesday in Tallahassee.

Wolfson had only three competitors so it didn't place as a team. All were juniors playing in the first district of their career: Kristen Salem (129), Paris Ovletrea (134) and Ivey Rigdon (155).

The boys golf district was Tuesday at Ponte Vedra Golf and Country Club. Mandarin placed third, led by brothers Ted (75) and Dan Huffingham (77). Andrew Valentine shot a 78, and Tanner Settlers hit an 85. Mandarin moves onto the regional tournament Tuesday in Panama City.

District fall schedule

Here's the district schedule for the other fall sports:

Girls Volleyball - Mandarin starts this coming Tuesday at host Fletcher. Wolfson plays this weekend at Ridgeview, and Mandarin Christian competes Monday in St. Augustine. Last year, both Mandarin and Mandarin Christian advanced to the Regional Tournament.

Swimming & Diving - Mandarin gets in the pool Thursday at the Cecil Aquatics Center; Wolfson starts Tuesday at the same venue.

Cross-country - After again winning the Gateway Conference tournament, Mandarin has its eyes on a district title Saturday, Nov. 6, at Gainesville Buchholz. Wolfson runs that same day at Riverview High. Mandarin Christian has its district meet Thursday, Nov. 4, at St. Johns Country Day.

Football - There is no district round on the gridiron, which jumps right to the regional tournament on Friday, Nov. 19. Mandarin Christian has a decent shot at making it, while Mandarin and Wolfson have an uphill climb.
