WINNEBAGO is taking on the Australian campervan market with its new Escape model based on the 6.4-metre Fiat Ducato 3.0-litre diesel van.

Many campervans available for sale in Australia are designed for only two travellers, but the Escape is suited to four people; most practically two adults and two children.

An electric roll-down bed drops from the ceiling to sleep two adults comfortably, while two additional single beds are on hand to accommodate two extra guests. With a kitchen and separate private shower and toilet area, the Escape sells itself as an alternative to a caravan as a fully self-contained single unit.

A flushing bowl toilet and cassette features alongside a hot and cold shower, while a dining area, kitchen facilities and 104-litre three-way refrigerator also somehow squeeze in.

Versatility is key with campervans, and the Escape cleverly lets the occupants store the double bed against the ceiling and the single beds against the wall to create a large agaragea area. …
