DO YOU know a young person with an artistic flair, a gift for dance, or a talent for performing? If so, why not nominate them for a Young Achiever Award? The Chronicle's annual campaign, which celebrates youth achievement across the region, is appealing for entries for people who have excelled in the arts.

If you know someone who is always the star in the school Christmas panto, or has their sights on becoming a worldclass ballet dancer, poet or painter, we want to hear about them.

Last year's winner of the Arts Achievement Award was Abbey Johnson, a student at Benfield School. The 19-yearold from Walker, Newcastle, dedicated her own free time to teach dance to her peers.

Abbey ran classes during her lunch break and after school, and they were a big hit with the students.

She said: "It was a great surprise to win the award; I wasn't expecting it at all. It was just nice to be nominated by one of my teachers."

The awards are aimed at 14 to 25-year-olds who live in the North East. …
