THEY came, they saw and they surfed.

A group from the Woorabinda Aboriginal Community, some seeing the ocean for the first time, came to Agnes Water last week and hit the waves with the Reef2Beach surf school.

Youth development officer Shawn Doak said the kids took to surfing Co well, like ducks to water Co but found the salty water not to taste.

"Some of them haven't seen the sea before and swallowed a bit of salt water, but once they realised what a surfboard was for they were right into it," Mr Doak said.

"They really enjoyed it and I couldn't get them out of the water. A couple of them look like real naturals, like my daughters, and now they're on my back all the time wanting to come back."

Reef2Beach surf shop and surf school owner/operator Wayne "Grom" Mellick said it was great for the kids, and the adults too, and they were already planning to return to Agnes for more surf lessons and an opportunity to get in the ocean again. …
