BEAST cancer fundraising events are welcomed by those attending them, as they provide valuable social interaction for ladies in the local area.

One was held last Tuesday at the Waterview Bistro.

Ladies were dressed up to the nines and enjoyed a variety of finger food including salmon cakes, rice balls, salads, pizzas and the food was still coming out from the kitchen as I was leaving.

Some of the ladies had gone to great lengths to be seen wearing pink, all over. Right down to pink wigs. Even Neville Tweed, the emcee for the occasion, had his own take on the pink wig thing.

Winner of the best fashion statement was Cheryl Grono. No one had mentioned the specific wearing of novelty bras to this adoa but Cheryl won the day with her doggie bra.

Thanks to Hayley McFarlane, who gets better every time I hear her, for providing the musical interludes for the day.

Many raffle tickets were drawn and some took home some great prizes of beauty treatments, bottles of wine, dinners, clothes, prize baskets of groceries, jewellery and I am really looking forward to using my voucher for the massage that I won!

Well done to all the ladies who attended this function, without their support it would be a battle for organisers to raise funds for research into a cure for breast cancer.
