I thoroughly enjoyed the article that was written by [Dan Macdonald] about "Candy Trade Power." With all the bad news in the paper, it was the first time in a very long time that I laughed so hard. It brought me back to when I was a kid at Halloween, which was quite some time ago. He really said it like it is! One of my neighbors gave full-size candy bars and it was the first house I hit. Also, the quarters we got were a big deal. What fun it used to be and now at least in my neighborhood it still is. We really go all out because the kids really enjoy it. Well, again thank you, Dan Macdonald. It was a refreshing change.

OPINION COLUMNIST NOT FAIR

Why would anyone of sound mind complain about anything when Ron Littlepage does enough complaining for all of us?

Of course, this left-wing, radical, so-called columnist, is [probably] one of the reasons the Times-Union spends time and money by way of the phone pestering people to buy their paper. If you were more fair and balanced, this kind of soliciting would not be needed.

I keep hoping that his mudslinging might find at least one left-wing radical to disagree with and set them straight.

DON'T FEED THE DUCKS

There seems to be an overabundance of ducks in the ... Chimney Lakes area. I go for daily walks, which consist of dodging large piles of duck droppings. People don't realize the more they feed these adorable birds, the more they poop. It is not healthy for the children and adults who frequent the parks there. If those generous duck feeders had to live near those duck-populated areas, they would reconsider this feeding frequency.

IT'S STUDENTS' RESPONSIBILITY

Predictably, candidates in the race for various offices are making the ritual statements on education and "failing schools." ... Florida's public schools offer, in addition to core curriculum, a full range of college preparatory courses. …
