Aussies Struggle

Article excerpt

AUSTRALIA'S struggles in international cricket continued at the SCG last night as Sri Lanka looked to wrap up the three-match series of one-day internationals.

Chasing a revised target of 244 from 39 overs in a match disrupted by rain, the Australians were 5-119 after 24 overs.

Only Shane Watson (40 from 44 balls) and Michael Clarke (25 from 30 balls) had looked likely to get their team close.

Earlier, the Sri Lanka batting fired again, with Upul Tharanga scoring 86 to set up a strong total of 3-213 from 41.1 overs.

None of the Australian bowlers made much impression, although Watson claimed two wickets.
