CUNNINGHAM polocrosse player Roly Slack-Smith has won his second successive over-40-years gold medal at the Pan Pacific Masters Games in polocrosse.

Slack-Smith played number three (defence) in the first section for the Curtis Racquets team which beat Rosemount Racquets 17-10 in the gold medal play off in the over-40s. Curtis Racquets led 3-2 after the first chukka and 8-6 at half-time before dominating in the second half.

Slack-smith moved to Rodger's Creek this year, only 10 kilometres from the Cunningham Polocrosse Club grounds at the Bony Mountain RecreationReserve.

He played in the Queensland mixed team which won the mixed finals at this year's nationals and enjoys the masters game.

The win by Slack-Smith held even more merit as he is 51 and eligible to play in the over-50s.

"I played with four of the same players two years ago in the Over 40s at the Gold Coast and they asked me to play with them again," he said.

If he receives another invitation in two years time, the odds are he will be in the Curtis Racquets team aiming for a third successive gold medal. …
