CHRIS Lee is the first in Australia to launch digital video guestbooks, and he has chosen the Sunshine Coast to do it.

In February this year, he quit 17 years in the hospitality industry, managing restaurants, to develop the concept.

His business Digi Diary, which launched two months ago, is based on a mobile "kiosk" that looks like a small ATM and records short video messages from guests at a variety of functions.

"There is a touch-screen that you press to begin recording and it emits three beeps to count you in, then it starts and counts down from 30 seconds," Mr Lee said.

"It is big for weddings and birthdays and I am just about to break into formals. You can use it for conferences as an information-gathering tool and to film testimonial videos at seminars.

"At the end of the night I edit all the clips together onto a DVD.

"I am also just about to launch Skype or Messenger capabilities so if your grandma is in England, she can watch the wedding as I just point the kiosk as it's happening. …
