ANETWORK of field paths link attractive village settings on the west side of the A167 between Northallerton and Darlington.

Starting from the White Swan Inn at Danby Wiske, we walk in a southerly direction to pass the village hall (on the left) and Manor House (on the right).

The parish church is a short distance away on our left before we pass Moat House Drive and, after about 60 yards, we turn right over a stile to make our way across the field At the metal field gate (on our right), we bear left to walk on the left side of the hedgerow and through a wooden field gate to pass between lines of trees.

After crossing the track (between gates) we reach a wooden field gate and stile and continue ahead down the field to the corner, where we turn left for 50 yards to another stile on our right.

Following the left hand field edge up the slope to a wicket gate, we walk ahead to pass high Brockholme on the left.

We make our way through another wicket gate and join the drive that soon reaches the public road, where we turn right towards Streetlam.

We soon pass a cluster of buildings at Brockholme (on the right) and, at this point, we turn left through the metal field gate.

Walking ahead, we pass through a gap and follow the beck on our left as far as the corner of the field.

After crossing the stile and concrete plank bridge, we head across the field towards the farm buildings.

There are two more stiles and a footbridge before we make our way up the slope and to the left of Moor House.

Passing through a metal field gate, we continue around a large tank to a stile on the right and then walk ahead - with the farm on our right.

Beyond a metal field gate, we join the drive and continue left for 35 yards before turning right along a lane between hedges.

We pass Whitehouse Farm (on the left) and continue ahead to the junction with the public road, where we turn right to pass Spencer Close on the left.

There are sports pitches on our left as we reach Streetlam and, at the road junction, we continue ahead for 35 yards before turning right on the Coast to Coast Route. …
