IT Gurus Hit the Road to Spread Word on Technology

A SUNSHINE Coast IT guru has been selected to present a round of federally-funded seminars in regional Queensland, Darwin and Alice Springs.

The SMBiT Professionals group applied for and won Enterprise Connect funding to deliver the seminars.

Group member and EH Technology Managing Director Andrew McInally is one of the four presenters.

The group began as a collective of IT business owners in various states who were linked by their status as Microsoft user groups, but it restructured itself 12 months ago to break away from the software giant and become a nationally-amalgamated peer support body.

The seminars are designed to demonstrate some of the latest information technology developments in cloud computing, data storage, security, virtualisation, communications and the greening of IT.

"IT providers have been talking to businesses about this for a long time, we are now trying to give a second voice to that," Mr McInally said.

"It's important to realise these words like cloud and virtualisation aren't new.

"They've been around for a while and they are becoming robust and established technologies that can improve the way you run a business.

"Businesses should start a conversation with their IT guys and use it the best of their ability. …
