THE new one-litre Cottees cordial bottle which proudly state "no artificial colours or flavours" is proclaiming porkies. One of the distinct flavour in Cottees cordial is their sweetness, and these one-litre bottles now have sugar replaced with a chemical. It isn't easy to spot, I need a 20X magnifying glass to actually see the word sucralose.

Sucralose is a chemical sugar replacement manufactured in Singapore. So instead of Aussie sugar cane farmers getting the benefit, some multinational chemical giant does.

No compassion

I AM writing in reply to W Hellwig's letter (Daily, Nov 13) regarding the shooting of Frodo and the murder of his mother koala. Unfortunately it is yet another emotive and skewed argument from the narrow minded anti-abortionist league. If you were likening the shooting of a born baby and a murdered mother to the horrific shooting of a helpless koala joey and its murdered mother where everyone cried for the koala and no-one cared about the baby, fair enough. This is not, however, what you have done. Termination is the mother's choice, and it is only her decision that ultimately matters. Sorry, but it's true. It amazes me that anti-abortionists are such emotive bleeding hearts when it comes to the unborn foetus, but have absolutely no compassion with the mother's situation at all.
