IN the book of Sunshine Coast businesses, there is a truly enormous chapter titled "humble beginnings".

Feel Good Therapeutic Centre proudly takes a page in that chapter.

The business has not always occupied space in the Centre Point Arcade on Ocean Street, starting out in the front room of Julie Brooks' home when she first moved to the Coast from Melbourne in 2004.

Her husband even helped out as the receptionist.

"We built it up over three years and it got quite busy with referrals from local chiropractors," she said. "When we first started there was a lot of massage therapists tailored to tourists where they could charge more inflated prices and we wanted to concentrate on the locals, because the tourist trade is up and down.

"Then we moved into a Cotton Tree wellness centre and again got busy there, so we bought Sunshine Coast Myotherapy in August and merged the two businesses.

"We moved into their premises on Ocean Street and now there's myself and three other therapists."

The merger meant their database more than doubled to rest at about 1000.

"The owner of Sunshine Coast Myotherapy was a client of mine and she'd been trying to sell her clinic because she wanted to move back down to Melbourne for family reasons. …
