TURN BACK TIME: THE HIGH STREET 9PM, BBC1 Time flies in Shepton Mallet, where the shopkeepers now find themselves in the pre-war Thirties. Mr Sergison the grocer, whose affable manner conceals a chilly commercial eye, is growing rich on selling sweeties to children. Needless to say, things aren't going as well at the bakery, where moany Mrs Devlin declares she'd rather wrestle crocodiles than bake cakes, though she does eventually produce a grudging Battenberg.

IMAGINE... 10.35PM, BBC1 The new series of Imagine... begins with a timely portrait of the Chinese artist, Ai Weiwei, who was placed under house arrest by the Chinese authorities earlier this month. Ai Weiwei was involved in the design of the "bird's-nest" stadium for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, though he later distanced himself from the project. More recently, his work Sunflower Seeds, consisting of 100 million hand-painted porcelain seeds, was installed at Tate Modern, where it attracted huge interest from visitors, who were encouraged to play among the seeds as though on a beach -- although this was later stopped after health and safety concerns. …
