A WOMAN who assaulted another woman appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Thursday charged with public nuisance and contravening a direction.

Lauren Alyce Weribone pleaded guilty to the offences.

Police prosecutor Constable Sean Franklin told the court the incident happened at 4.40am on May 7 in Toowoomba. The defendant and another female were arguing when the defendant threw several punches, pulled the complainant's hair and ripped her wig off.

She then pinned the female against a wall and kept punching her. Security broke the fight up and Weribone was led away by her friends but returned and kept punching the victim. Weribone then left in a taxi.

She then failed to attend the police station within seven days to provide identifying particulars.

Defence solicitor Anthony DeFraine said alcohol was involved.

"There is a long history between the two women and my client has now moved to Gladstone to get away from the bad influences in Toowoomba," Mr DeFraine said. …
