THE theft of trees from environmentally friendly Spoonbill Street in Peregian Beach will not deter residents from carrying out their green crusade.

The pandanus saplings, planted only three weeks ago after being donated to the street's Bushcare group, were illegally uprooted last weekend.

Spoonbill resident and Bushcare member Lyn Bollen urged the aselfish and unthinkinga person or people responsible to return the trees safely for replanting.

"We have no tolerance for people who want to be environmental vandals," Ms Bollen said.

"The honourable thing for this person or people responsible to do would be to return the trees, even if they leave them at a certain place so the trees don't die. We will be happy to replant them.

"This will not deter us from our goals to make this a better street for all."

Ms Bollen said the theft was disrespectful to the work undertaken by volunteers. …
