Guisborough 60 v Middlesbrough 0 GUISBOROUGH Under-16s were at home to a spirited Middlesbrough side in cold and wet conditions on Sunday.

Despite the weather, there was much running rugby from a firing Guisborough side which laid their local derby demons to rest.

Guisborough were straight out the blocks as the hosts scrummed well before setting up the ruck.

Another Middlesbrough error gifted the hosts a five metre scrum. Back row Kane Watts picked from the base and drove through the defence to claim Guisborough's third score.

His first was from a well-worked back line move as Guisborough made good yards down the right hand side of the pitch before spreading the ball and releasing Alex Ruff in space to finish in the left hand corner.

His second score was almost straight from the restart and off another weighted cross-field kick from his fly half. Ruff timed his run and picked well to score in the left-hand corner once again.

Middlesbrough came close to Guisborough's try line from the restart through a kick and chase but the home side's defence was solid as David Wardell touched down for the twenty two. …
