HE'S KNOWN world-wide for fearlessly taking on the monsters of the deep but for the past few weeks three little fluffy birds have stopped Hervey Bay's iconic shark hunter in his tracks.

Vic Hislop has been unable to take his boat out on to the water ever since a pair of swallows built a nest and nurtured three eggs on the cable which is used to pull the boat on to the truck.

About five weeks ago Mr Hislop saw the nest being built and while he thought about moving it, his softer side came through.

C[pounds sterling]I thought: CyI can't use the boat so I'm going to have to move the nest',C[yen] Mr Hislop said.

A couple of days ago the three eggs hatched and Mr Hislop and his family got their first look at the little chicks that have been keeping the boat off the bay. …
