HE will be mighty saddle sore by journey's end but Eamon Fitzpatrick knows the hard yards will be worth it.

The 26-year-old passed through the Coffs Coast yesterday on a pedalling odyssey which is taking him from the Gold Coast to Melbourne.

Mr Fitzpatrick aims to raise $4000 for the McGrath Foundation which places breast care nurses in local communities and increases breast awareness in young women.

"I had always planned on doing something like this," he said.

"A couple of months ago I thought it would be great to do it for charity.

"My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer three-and-a-half years ago and she's come through it really well.

"I've raised $1400 so far and my target is $4000, so I'm getting there."

Mr Fitzpatrick left Coolangatta on Tuesday and he plans to be in Melbourne by December 18, where his 19-day trek comes to an end. …
