Mum Spending 10th Christmas in Custody

SERIAL offender Leilani Maide Clarke will spend her 10th Christmas behind bars this year after being remanded in custody until January.

For years the single mum has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons and has been a regular visitor to the Hervey Bay police station, courthouse and jail.

She has assaulted police officers on at least 10 occasions, has been jailed for spitting on them and has breached her bail conditions more than five times.

The series of events which led to her most recent lock-up took place in July when she allegedly tried to ram a police car after driving the wrong way down Hervey Bay streets.

Ms Clarke, who has never held a driver's licence, was allegedly intoxicated when she forced cars off the road and caused pedestrians to jump out of her way in Urangan and Torquay.

At the time Ms Clarke was on bail for other offences.

She has been in custody ever since. …
