Ruling Offers No Reprieve on Christmas Penalty Rates

EMPLOYERS hoping for a reprieve from Fair Work Australia on penalty rate double dipping this holiday season were disappointed last week.

The full bench of FWA decided on Thursday to remove a contested public holiday clause from the Manufacturing Modern Award, an award which would have had implications across many others.

The Australian Industry Group had made a submission to the FWA in an effort to minimise costs for employers, an issue highlighted in last week's edition of MyBusiness.
