Qantas Backflips on Early Flight Cut

QANTASLINK has backflipped on plans to cut early-morning flights during January, after customers complained to the council.

Mayor Lorraine Pyefinch initiated talks with the airline, telling them there was demand for the early flights.

C[pounds sterling]The decision by QantasLink to reintroduce both the morning and evening flights will ensure those living in the Bundaberg region can continue to enjoy the flexibility and convenience of services to Brisbane,C[yen] Cr Pyefinch said.

The discussions mean the 6.45am flight from Bundaberg to Brisbane from Mondays to Thursdays, and 6.55pm flights from Brisbane to Bundaberg from Sundays to Wednesdays, will be reintroduced between January 10-27.

The mayor said the announcement was welcomed not only by the council, but the region's business and community travellers.

C[pounds sterling]While the council acknowledges there may be a drop in patronage between Christmas and the new year, most businesses in the Bundaberg region intend to resume normal operations by January 10, with the early morning and evening flights expected to be as popular as ever,C[yen] she said. …
