Recycling over the Festive Period
Real Christmas tree collections AS part of our commitment to reduce waste and recycle more, Middlesbrough Council will again be collecting real Christmas trees, to be shredded and composted, during the first two weeks of January.
Real Christmas trees should be put out for collection on what would have been the normal green waste collection day (note this is a one-off service and green waste collections are suspended from November 2010 and resume in March 2011). Residents should refer to their refuse and recycling calendars for their specific collection date. Residents unsure of their collection day can download their recycling and refuse calendar from the Middlesbrough Council website at www.middlesbrough.gov.uk or order a replacement calendar by calling the contact centre freephone helpline number on 0800 013 6001.
Using the community recycling sites OVER the festive period residents can use the community recycling bring sites located at various points around the town. Visit the recycling section at www.middlesbrough.gov.uk to find your nearest site and what can be recycled there.
Please note these facilities are in addition to the kerbside recycling collections and not intended to replace them. Please continue to use your kerbside recycling collection service over the festive period and use the bring sites to recycle any extra recycling in the correct container provided. Please also note that recycling not placed in the correct container will contaminate loads and that material should not be left beside containers as this stops others using them, creates a hazard, and stops the containers being emptied promptly. …
