Man Fined $400 for Public Self-Fondling

A MAN who persistently fondled himself in the Ipswich CBD while watching explicit material on a portable DVD player has walked from court with a small fine.

The 39-year-old pulled his pants down, sat in a gutter on Waghorn Street and touched himself while watching a pornographic video on the afternoon of November 10.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard a woman approached Jason Donald Broadwater, a convicted child sex offender, and told him to stop.

But he responded by moving to a nearby park and continuing his lewd behaviour.

Prosecutor Constable Tazania Lynch said Broadwater was still in full view of the public so the witness again approached him.
