Will Bremer Parklands Dream Become Reality? Council Plans to Keep You Cool in Summer with a ,Cywater Play Precinct'

WITH a concept at hand, Ipswich City Council now wants to find out if its dream for a revitalised Bremer River precinct can be made a reality.

Parks, sport and recreation committee chairman Councillor David Morrison said the council hoped to extend the River Heart parklands from the existing border at the David Trumpy Bridge to Bob Gamble Park Co about a kilometre further along the river bank parallel to King Edward Parade.

Stage two of the parklands could include boardwalks, several piers, barbecue spaces and a water play area for children.

A pedestrian connection from the David Trumpy Bridge down to the river walk is also included on the concept master plan for stage two (pictured above).

A recommendation passed at Tuesday's ordinary meeting will result in council putting feelers out for potential contractors and possible Federal and State Government funding.

"This is not a council decision to commence construction but to see if our vision can become a reality and how it must be staged," Cr Morrison said. …
