I CAN always tell how much my husband likes the latest test offering sunning itself on our driveway by how easy it is to find the keys.

Sometimes he pays them little heed no matter how invitingly they call from the kitchen bench. On other occasions it's like the Ultimate Fighting Championship as we jostle to get out of the door even if the prize is nothing more than a drive to the shops.

Today he is bursting with excitement.

"This is such a bloke's car," he declares unashamedly. "Look at the wide seats and a there's a remote control for the sat-nav. A remote control!

"Oh, and there are no shopping hooks. Not one. I checked."

I smile. I am going to have to hide the keys.


Anyone who has had to take a taxi across town may not associate Falcons with luxury but the G6E is a sumptuous offering. The soft leather seats are bolstered and padded for ultimate comfort. Fixtures have a quality feel with the LCD screen adding some pizzazz. The Falcon is almost five metres long so there is plenty of room to stretch out, front or back. Boot space, at 503 litres, is generous and the 60:40 back seat split will help accommodate bulkier goods.

On the road

While rivals and stablemates have embraced smaller engines and fuel efficiency, the Falcon has stuck by its six-cylinder guns. The G6E delivers an exciting, enjoyable ride.
