This one will be tough for Orange Park to forget.

Sanford Seminole turned the ball over on its first five possessions, finished with six giveaways and scored one offensive touchdown.

It was enough to win.

Seminole defensive end Chris Adudu scored two defensive touchdowns to lead the Seminoles to a 21-16 road victory over Orange Park in the Region 1-6A final.

The Seminoles scored the game-winner on an 88-yard screen pass from quarterback Deron Thompson to running back Sederius Bryant with 8:05 to play in the game.

"We let this game slip away from us," Orange Park coach Danny Green said. "We should've been able to take a big lead early with all of the turnovers and we couldn't."

Orange Park wasn't flawless with the ball, either. The Raiders committed three turnovers.

"I can't remember a game like this, especially this deep in the playoffs," Green said. "You might see this many turnovers in the first game of the year."

Orange Park did get the ball back at its 35-yard line with 7.6 seconds to play, but two deep throws downfield fell incomplete. The Raiders were without starting quarterback Taylor Muth, who injured his left knee in the second quarter.

"Our defense has carried us and that's what happened tonight," Seminole interim coach Robert Vite said. "Our offense never was able to get in a rhythm. Orange Park has a great defense, but our guys matched them tonight."

Seminole (11-2) will move on to the state semifinals on Friday against Orlando Dr. Phillips. Orange Park's season ended at 8-5.

The Raiders shook off a 1-3 start to win the District 1-6A title and came agonizingly close to a trip to the final four.

"I'm really proud of our team, because I feel like we really overachieved this season," Green said. "The kids fought hard. We told them at the half, the team that made the one big play would win. …
