IT'S a paperwork nightmare that threatens to sour the well-earned retirement plans of one North Deep Creek Road couple.

A design error which has put a subdivision access road in the wrong place has left the couple, Errol and Wendy Sanewski, well out of pocket and way behind their life plan schedule.

Crucially, the design expertise of Gympie Regional Council and leading engineering firm GHD has not been enough to prevent things going wrong on what seemed to be a quite simple acreage subdivision with one simple access road and four simple blocks of land.

GHD operations manager Anton van Velden yesterday told The Gympie Times: "This is a commercial arrangement that is private between us and our client.

"We have been in discussion with the client and are working with them to reach a resolution."

That much is good news for the Sanewskis, their best news so far.

"SO near and yet so far," Errol Sanewski observed of the access road intersection which has turned a family retirement dream into an expensive and frustrating burden. …
