Ipswich Divided by Great Bus Debate; Mayor Will Meet with Disgruntled Passengers

IPSWICH pensioners will be able to give Ipswich MP Rachel Nolan direct feedback on the new FlexiLink taxi service at a meeting today.

The service replaced three axed Ipswich bus routes on Monday after Ms Nolan, who is also the Transport Minister, claimed the dumped services were too poorly patronised to continue.

Residents angry at the changes have held a number of meetings in the past weeks including a protest in Bell Street.

Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale said he had organised tomorrow's meeting so residents affected could give direct feedback to Ms Nolan.

Cr Pisasale said it was important that the changes are right for public transport users, especially seniors, and that the issue had been C[pounds sterling]hijackedC[yen] by political opportunists.
