Enforce Penalties for Stolen Parks

Article excerpt

TO Noosafox (Daily, November 16), it is heartening that others care about the irresponsible and thoughtless people who park in disabled parking bays.

My husband has a disability parking sticker, and uses a walking stick some of the time.

Due to the ravages of arthritis, every step is painful and he endeavours to walk in a correct manner to alleviate the pain as much as possible.

To a casual observer, he doesn't seem to have a problem, but after 50 yards or so it becomes obvious to me that walking is a struggle for him.

I, too, have watched those who seem physically able jump out of vehicles, including tradies' utes, and wonder how they could be so inconsiderate to use a spot reserved for those in need.

The penalties should be higher and enforcement more rigorous for this abuse of a much appreciated parking concession.

He still has my vote.

Maybe now we can move on from this issue that appeared to be an obsession of a few people.

On behalf of the nature-loving users of the conservation area and the wildlife, I thank you.

They never vote for anybody but the party they always have. …
