MOTORISTS travelling along the Brisbane Valley Highway are frustrated with its "poor condition" and want it fixed as a matter of priority.

Several residents have contacted The Queensland Times in the past week complaining of the road's awful state.

One, a council employee who asked not to be named, travels the highway between Ipswich and Esk at least five times a week and described the state of the highway as "disgraceful".

"I've lived out here for years and never have I seen it quite as bad as now," she said. "I know it's rained a lot, but there is still no excuse to have a main road like this in such an awful state.

"Some of the potholes are just plain dangerous."

Fernvale resident Martin Harris was travelling along the highway near Randalls Road on Monday morning when he hit a pothole.

"There was no way of avoiding it, and as soon as I went through it I knew it wasn't going to be good," Mr Harris said. …
