A COASTLINE is just not a coastline without pandanus trees, according to keen surfer and gardener Vince Milne.

The Verrierdale resident is so desperate to see the Sunshine Coast return to its previous status as a pandanus wonderland that he is offering 1000 free one-year-old pandanus trees to anyone willing to plant them.

The 49-year-old will open his greenhouse to the public over two weekends early next year for anyone to come along and pick up a tree or two.

"I just love pandanus trees. I don't think the Sunshine Coast is quite the same without them, they're very beautiful and belong on the coastline," Mr Milne said.

"I'm a surfer and the coastline just isn't the coastline without pandanus trees lining the area.

"I want to see all these seedlings get planted somewhere along the Coast and I thought the best way to do that would be to give them out."
