A FIRST for Keith Urban is that his 2011 world tour will start in Australia, kicking off at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Friday, April 8.

Other tour venues are the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Saturday, April 8, TREC at Tamworth on Tuesday, April 12, Sydney Entertainment Centre on Thursday, April 14, and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Friday, April 15.

Tickets will go on sale on January 21.

Support act for the Aussie leg of the tour is the Nashville country pop group Lady Antebellum who is making its first visit to our nation.

This year the band took out Top Vocal Group and their song Need You Now won them Song of the Year and Single of the Year.

Their EP A Merry Little Christmas is exclusive to Target during the festive season.

The Tamworth Songwriters' Association (TSA) has announced the finalists in the Songwriter Salute Awards with the winners to be announced on January 19 at the annual TSA concert and awards show.

Diggers is the new venue for this event and tickets went on sale from Wests Entertainment Group on December 1.

If you intend to go it would pay to book on (02) 6766 4661, as it is a 400-seat venue.

Entertainers for the awards night are The Bobkatz, Kaylee Bell, Graham Rodger, Ted Egan, Ernie Constance, Amber Lawrence, McAlister Kemp, 8 Ball Aitken and Danny Hooper.

There will also be a special Golden Guitar winner and Anne Kirkpatrick will present a tribute to Joy McKean.
