TWEED Shire Council has pulled out all stops to fix potholes and other damage caused by this week's heavy rains.

Road crews have been immediately directed to perform urgent work after the recent heavy rainfall on the Tweed.

Mayor Kevin Skinner yesterday announced crews had been instructed to repair potholes and water damage in a bid to make the roads a safer place for Tweed motorists.

"We have all five available crews working on the maintenance of roads through the Tweed to swiftly deal with the damage caused by extremely wet weather from Christmas Day until yesterday," Cr Skinner said.

"Today's improved weather means our crews can now get out and rec- tify the damage and council is giving top priority to a systematic program of repairs.

"The two crews operating the jet-patching trucks, which specialise in patching potholes and other road failures, are working additional hours."

Cr Skinner said another two crews would work on land slips, particularly in rural areas. …
