Y OU'RELIKEMEFRANK prevented a winning sendoff for The Tatling and helped his trainer John Balding finish 2010 on a high note at Lingfield yesterday.

The Tatling officially turns 14 on Saturday and trainer Milton Bradley had said he might be retired if he won division one of the totepool A Better Way To Bet Handicap, although the sprinter did not enjoy an earlier attempt to call time on his career and started to sulk at home.

He had every chance in this event, finishing two lengths second to the 15-8 favourite You'relikemefrank, and Bradley is likely to keep him going while his heart is in the sport.

"If I couldn't have won, I'd have loved The Tatling to have done as he's a super old horse," said Balding.

"But mine is a young improver and I think a good young horse usually beats a good old 'un.

"I was confident as it all went wrong for him at Wolverhampton. Graham Gibbons gave him a great ride and I might run him at Lingfield under a penalty next week."

Division two of that race went to Cathy Gannon and Estonia (11-2) while there was compensation for Bradley as Loyal Royal (5-1) claimed the division one of the In Memory Of Barry Court (The Judge) Handicap.

There was a tight finish to division two as well, with 9-1 chance Nubar Boy getting up by a head to pass Speak The Truth.

Trainer Stef Higgins finally rectified what was becoming a frustrating afternoon when Sarah's Art (13-2) held off Yankee Storm in the totepool Racing's Biggest Supporter Handicap. Mongoose Alert collected the totepool Our Profits Stay In Racing Selling Stakes in the style of a 1-2 favourite. Stan James introduced impressive winner Royal De La Thinte into their RSA Chase betting at 25-1 following his success in the Punchestown Hospitality Beginners' Chase yesterday. "A dual point-to-point winner, second in his first beginners chase to subsequent Grade One winner Bostons Angel and a winner today at Punchestown by 10 lengths, marks Royal De La Thinte as something special and we've introduced him into the RSA betting at 25-1," said Stan James' Joe Burke.

"Time For Rupert remains our 11-4 favourite but it's 12-1 the field after that in what is an open looking race for the places at this stage. …
