AS a young bloke growing up on the Sunshine Coast I could almost set my watch by the Friday night fight that would invariably erupt at a certain taxi rank.

It became so common people would just greet it with a mere shrug of the shoulders.

Now I'm far from a shy, retiring type and it takes a fair bit to worry me, but some of those scenes were downright scary.

For me, there are just too many variables when drunken fisticuffs get out of control.

So when I came to Bundy looking for a new watering hole, I asked around to get a feel for the word on the street. Let me tell you, that C[pounds sterling]wordC[yen] was far from flattering.

If you were to believe the scuttlebutt, at the very least there was a blue to be had out front of every pub at closing time.
