Cafe Cooks Up Special Offer to Aid Flood Relief; Appeals Provide Opportunities for All to Assist Victims

CAFE Forte is just one of Toowoomba's many businesses helping with flood disaster relief donations.

The cafe will be running a special price breakfast and brunch buffet for $10 and will donate $5 for every one sold until Thursday, January 20.

Owner Andrew Smith said they would be donating an extra $1000 as well as the money they raised from the special deal.

President of the Chamber of Commerce Geoff McDonald said he was pushing to fill the cafe next Tuesday with friends and colleagues to demonstrate the community spirit that has been evident since the flash floods on Monday.

He said the chamber has been inundated with support and people have been donating items as well as cash donations.

aAll the support from the community has been fantastic,a he said.

Mr McDonald said businesses that were unsure how to help could set up a tin on their counter so people could make cash donations.

The Queensland hotel industry launched a Flood Relief Appeal yesterday aimed at raising funds to assist with flood assistance and recovery for those suffering from the flood devastation.

The QHA and AHA Queensland Flood Relief Appeal will continue until Australia Day and many hotels will hold special events to support the effort.
