A CROCODILE sighting in Maryborough's Ululah Lagoon may have set tongues wagging, but local wildlife enthusiast Ray Revill believes the waterway's resident ducks can rest easy.

The manager of the TESS wild-life sanctuary in Maryborough West said he was amused by a recent picture of a supposed Cymonster croc' in the lagoon.

He said he had seen crocodiles in the area, but not for 15 to 20 years.

C[pounds sterling]There used to be good numbers of them in the area but they are far less common these days,C[yen] Mr Revill said.

However local commercial fishermen continue to report occasional sightings in the Mary River and Sandy Strait.

Adrian Nowitzke from Beaver Rock had fished the region all his life and said they were still around.

C[pounds sterling] I saw one out in the strait about 12 months ago,C[yen] Mr Nowitzke said.
