Talented Duo Aims for Winning Time in Sun

THEY may live two hours from the nearest beach but Toowoomba's Terry Moore and Matt Norman are transferring their volleyball talents from indoor courts to the beach.

While the task of hitting the ball over the net to score points remains the same, beach volleyball differs considerably from its indoor derivative.

The reduction of team-mates to one is a clear change but it is the most obvious difference that poses the biggest challenge for the Queensland indoor representatives.

Moore has played beach volleyball in the past, but not for two years, and he considers moving around the court and jumping at the net as much harder tasks on the sand.

This is compounded by a lack of training venues in Toowoomba.

C[pounds sterling]I think the hardest thing for us not training on the sand up here is getting around,C[yen] Moore said.

Norman was a beach volleyball debutant when the pair contested the second round of the Queensland Beach Volleyball Series on the Gold Coast last weekend. …
