Police Hunt Robber after Hold-Up with Knife at Servo

POLICE are appealing for help as they hunt a masked robber who held up the Lennox Head Caltex service station at knife-point early yesterday.

The man entered the service station around 6.45am armed with a long knife and demanded the lone console operator give him cash from the till.

The service station worker, a 52-year-old woman, complied and handed the suspect a small amount of cash, police said, after which the robber ran off through a nature reserve behind the station.

Police said the staff member was extremely traumatised by the robbery, but was not physically injured.

aShe is obviously in a state of shock and has been given contacts for counselling through Victims Services,a Detective Sergeant Ashley Bryant from Ballina Police said.

The Caltex service station was closed for around an hour while forensic services teams examined the scene for evidence. CCTV footage from the station will also be examined, police said.

Det Sgt Bryant said police hoped witnesses would come forward who may have seen the man after he ran from the station. …
