FACEBY joiner Guy Kendrew and the all-new AM-sponsored Ossa proved an unbeatable partnership in the Middlesbrough DMC's Lazenby Trial on Eston Hills.

He dropped just seven marks to beat Marton's David Pye by nine, with Russ Rooksby from Yarm in third place.

Kendrew proved outstanding on the rocks of section eight, where he was the only rider to remain unpenalised.

Pye's natural competitive spirit brought him back into the reckoning with resounding clean rides on the almost vertical climb and exit over rocks of section four, then matched it on the huge rock step exit of No 5. It was Kendrew's second outing on the Ossa. having finished third in the masters class at Scarborough a week earlier.

The Spanish Ossa firm went bust in 1982 but has been relaunched. And now Kendrew is predicting a bright future for the marque, rating the suspension as the best he has ever ridden.

"The soft, usable power of the motor low down gives you a feel for finding grip," he said. …
