Green Hornet Misses Mark despite Cast

IT'S lucky for The Green Hornet the nominations for the Razzie Awards (honouring Hollywood's worst movies, actors and filmmakers) have already been announced. It would have been a fierce contender.

I am normally a fan of Seth Rogen of Cameron Diaz and of superhero spoof movies but The Green Hornet is disappointingly lacklustre on all three counts.

Based on the 1936-52 radio show of the same name it tells the story of spoilt rotten rich kid with daddy issues Britt Reid, (Seth Rogen). When his father dies leaving him his media empire he teams up with his father's mechanic cum gadget genius and material arts extraordinaire to fight crime by pretending to be crims themselves.

The premise is good, the way paved for hilarious bungles and a great finale showdown; however the film falls flat in its execution.

Highlight: The visuals, camera work and action sequences are exciting under the direction of Michel Gondry of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind fame. …
