Moony Gets Trev's Tankard

LAST week's Grafton Services Swimming Club report contained one small mistake. After numerous phone calls, emails, faxes and constant sledging at this week's meeting, I was informed that Doug and Toni Ensbey were not mentioned for competing in the 50m final. One reason could be that they swam so slowly that the judge could not see them at the finish. He would have had to have a wide angle lens on the camera.

This week's feature event was the Wykes Tyrepower Explosive Cup, also known as Trev's Tankard. The contestants were David Moon, Doug Hackett, Richard Green, Terry Barnes, Tracey Hill and John Kelleher. The increase in the number of finalists was due to the fact that we had our best attendance for the season so far, probably caused by the stinking hot weather. Doug and Richard decided to employ the acatch me if you cana tactics but, with neither relenting, both were disqualified, leaving the expert Moony to claim yet another victory. In only her second swim back after a long break, Tracey powered into second and Killer third. …
